Sunset, sunrise

I'm happy to report that I'm continually gathering the courage to become a hand-raisin' worshiper in a non-hand-raising church. I'm thinking that maybe if just one person did it with some unabashed sincerity and enthusiasm, it might embolden those who also wish they could raise their hands from time to time. And if not, if I happen to be the only one with those tendencies, so be it. Of course, being that I sit in the very back, no one may notice either way...

Ah yes, the wife and I have had this discussion. We come from an Assembly of God background ya know. There we had the exact opposite problem. You were looked down upon by some if you did NOT raise your hands (or dance, flop like a fish, laugh uncontrollable, etc). We "escaped" that and have enjoyed the freedom NOT to have to raise our hands during worship. Lift em high lady, a few of us won't find you strange.

I have felt the same way. I say go for it.

I think raising our hands to heaven in worship is what we were originally created to do and we will spend a lot of time doing that when we finally get home. For me, it is very freeing to worship God with my body. Freeing is probably not the best word. But I don't know how to describe it. I just know that the freedom to worship however the Spirit moves - hands up, down, in your lap, whatever - is a wonderful thing!
