The #1 Requirement of Being a Superfriend

The Superfriends possess many amazing qualities, but the overriding facet is their ability to love the Floyd children. It is so comforting and encouraging to be around them, because they like our kids as much as we do, and not just when the children are behaving.

If you too would like to join the ranks of Superfriends, you must first pass this test: You must love our children not only when they look like this:

...but also when they look like this:

Now in addition to the upset pictures, you have to imagine lots of whining and angry voices. Still love 'em? Yeah, me too.

Yes, this is a shameless excuse to show off my children.

What of it?

Don't you ever feel lazy on a Friday night?

That's what I thought.

Those are some superkids! Good to know I still qualify as a superfriend.

But do I have to confine my laziness to Friday nights?

Those faces are even more powerful in person. Hard to know, I believe.

As potential superfriend candidates, is there an official list of requirements? Is this pass / fail or is there a minimum score? Details please.

Jon: There isn't an official list of requirements as of yet. It's mostly based on proximity, loyalty, and love.

Here's a rough guideline. You must:

1) Be willing to have fun with us on a fairly regular basis. Willing is the key word here. Even if you can't make it, you gotta act like you really wanted to be there.
2) Love our children despite their frequent obnoxious whining, thus making us feel like you aren't pained to be hanging out with us. (It's an additional bonus if you actually say things like "aren't they precious?!" even when they're really tired and cranky. "I remember when my kids were like that" works too, especially when accompanied by sympathetic glances.)

**Matt says that he's so super that any of his friends are super by pure proximity. Of course, after his most recent post, you may not appreciate that sentiment, especially if you're at all worried that people will think you're associated with him.

If these conditions are acceptable to you, then we have an accord. Welcome aboard!

Jonathan, you are in good company. Welcome to it. We're very weird and geeky. You understand weird and geeky, don't you, Jon? I thought so.
